Your Essential Oil Counselor – Jenifer Brady
I’m SO excited! I’ve been hoarding the 5 ml bottle of Tangerine I got in a Summer Sensations kit two years ago because I love it so much and didn’t want to run out. But now, it’s available ALL year round as a single oil! Have you tried Tangerine yet? It’s going on my order this week for sure! 15 ml is $15 for doTERRA members, $20 for wholesale (non-members).
I’m curious–who has tried doTERRA’s LLV supplements? What were your experiences? It’s something I resisted at first because oils are more fun and I didn’t want to take the time to learn about vitamins. But once I tried them, I realized what all the fuss was about! In case you’re like me and can’t remember everything the Lifelong Vitality supplements do for you, here is a quick cheat sheet of some of the basics.
Spearmint is the Oil of Confident Speech!
I use it whenever I have to speak in front of a group of people or when I want my words to be clear and easily understood. If you’re facing a public speaking opportunity or just want to feel more confident when expressing your ideas, beliefs, and emotions, try this blend that combines spearmint with some lavender to take the edge off your nervousness.
Seriously, is it just me today??? I have SO many things on the to-do list: clean my desk/office area, prep my daughter’s room for painting, get to the bottom of the laundry pile, edit some pictures from a friend’s family photo shoot. Had good intentions of getting lots done today, but so far I’ve been putzing on Facebook and finding any little project that will help me procrastinate. Gonna try some Motivate and get something (anything!!!) crossed off that to-do list!
17 years ago my husband and I got married at the chapel at the church camp we’ve been involved with for years. Since love’s been on the brain today, I wanted to share a diffuser recipe that will get the romance going: 3 drops Sandalwood 2 drops Cinnamon 1 drop Ylang Ylang
Lemon is your go-to cleaner oil. It helps with everything from surfaces to gum in your hair! How do YOU clean with lemon oil? Let’s share ideas!
Well, I pulled off a clutzy move last night. While trying to rush through chores, I slipped and fell part of the way down the stairs. Ouch! Luckily, nothing was broken or bruised too badly, but sliding down the carpet on the steps really irritated my skin in several places! Today I’ve been using lavender and helichrysum to help sooth. I hope you don’t find yourself in the same situation, but if you do, here’s a helpful roller bottle recipe.
Promotes feelings of comfort and hope. <3 Counteracts negative emotions of grief, sadness, and hopelessness. 🙁 Diffuse during times of loss to comfort the soul and evoke feelings of hope. Apply over the heart morning and night as a reminder to be patient with healing and to think positive thoughts. Apply one to two drops to a shirt collar or scarf and smell throughout the day to ward off feelings of grief and sadness.
A little goes a long way! You only need a couple drops of essential oil in a teaspoon of carrier oil (like fractionated coconut oil). Diluting your oils won’t decrease their power or effectiveness; it just reduces the chances of having a skin reaction, which is especially important when you’re working with kids or sensitive skin.
Great idea for an effective wood polish and preservative.
Day #2 of no soda for me. Staying hydrated with lemon and grapefruit in my water bottle today. I also love the thought that these citrus oils are helping cleanse my body* from all the junk in the soda I used to drink.
Yesterday I deep cleaned our bathroom. Which meant getting into all sorts of nasty nooks and crannies. I used this blend for EVERYTHING: surfaces, floor, shower, toilet, sink. Smelled great and now I know anything icky is gone.
We started the huge project of repainting my daughter’s room yesterday (going from her Noah’s Ark nursery theme to a more grown-up-for-middle-school ocean/beach theme. As usual, Mom ended up doing more than the kids. 🙂 But cleaning up was a breeze with this tip.
There’s still some time left this summer to play outside and go to the beach! Here’s an idea if you have a little too much fun in the sun.
Wow, so last night, I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t fall back asleep. And I had a total brain fart in my sleeplessness and didn’t think to put some Serenity in the diffuser! Duh! It will be misting for sure tonight!
Leaves are what allow plants to breathe, so it makes sense that many oils that come from leaves provide respiratory support and feelings of clear airways and easy breathing*. They are also calming during times of stress and help clear the way for positive thoughts and creative flow.
I love all the emotional aromatherapy oils, but Peace is my favorite. (It just edges out Motivate for that honor!) 💧 Diffuse at night time to promote a calming environment and restful sleep. 💧 When experiencing anxious feelings, apply one drop to hands, rub together, and inhale deeply. 💧 Diffuse or inhale before taking a test, presenting to a large group, or in times of worry or distress. 💧 To calm an upset or restless child, apply to bottoms of feet.
An Unconventional Use . . . Last spring I had this terrible cold. One of those where you’re going through a tissue box every day or two. And my poor nose was miserable! It hurt so much to just blow my nose or even just wipe it. I’d tried a little Vaseline on it, which usually works, but that just wasn’t cutting it. I was sitting there feeling miserable, and my eyes fell on the jar of body butter sitting on my desk. I’d been using it for dry, irritated skin on my elbows and ankles. I gave it a try on my nose, and it was soooooooooo soothing! It helped soothe the skin irritation on and under my nose. I don’t know that this was what body part or skin situation doTERRA had in mind when they formulated it, but it’s one of my favorite uses.
Got stinky shoes? Here’s help: Purify blend and/or any citrus oil!
My kids were super crabby today, so I unleashed the power of citrus X 2 on them! I cranked up the diffuser and put Citrus Bliss and Sunny Citrus in. The crabbys were no match for Sunny Bliss! 🙂 I’d recommend equal parts, but I was so desperate that I just tipped the bottles over and shook them, so I honestly don’t know how many drops of each I used. LOL
Another gem of a beauty recipe from my friend Amanda.
Diffuse this blend as instructed or double the drops in a 10 ml roller bottle and fill with fractionated coconut oil for a perfume. Calming, relaxing, and uplifting! (If applied topically, do not use on skin that is exposed to the sun, as cold-pressed lime is phototoxic.)
